Overview

Everyone is talking about Claude, but let us show you how to use it across the ecosystem of tools that accounting professionals use that drives real outcomes and value.

Generative AI is moving fast, but most accountants and finance teams are still asking the same practical questions: what can we safely use today, where does it genuinely save time, and how do we connect it to the tools we already rely on (Excel, reporting packs, general ledgers, workpapers, and client communications)? In this session we cut through the noise and show how Claude can be used to support real finance and advisory workflows—without needing to be technical.

You’ll see how to turn Claude into a day-to-day assistant for drafting, analysing, reviewing and explaining finance information, with a strong focus on quality control, confidentiality considerations and “human-in-the-loop” checks. The session is foundation-level and designed to be immediately actionable for professionals working in practice or industry.

In this session, we’ll cover:

  • Where Claude fits in an accounting/finance toolkit (and where it doesn’t)
  • Prompting patterns for common tasks: drafting memos, summarising documents, building logic and models and explaining complex concepts clearly
  • Using Claude to support analysis and review work: reconciliations, variance narratives, commentary, and issue spotting
  • Turning raw information into client-ready outputs (with consistency and tone control)
  • Practical guardrails and skills: checking outputs, reducing hallucinations, and protecting confidential information
  • Orchestrating and scaling Claude across a practice or finance team — from individual use to firm-wide implementation

The session will include practical demonstrations and mini case studies based on realistic accounting and finance scenarios.

Content is practical and hands-on (not theoretical), with steps you can apply immediately after the session.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify where Claude can (and cannot) be used across common accounting and finance workflows, including drafting, review, analysis and client communications
  • Apply repeatable prompting patterns to get more reliable outputs (e.g., giving context, constraints, examples, and asking for structured outputs)
  • Turn source material (emails, PDFs, workpapers, meeting notes) into clear summaries, variance commentary and client-ready narratives while maintaining tone and consistency
  • Use Claude to support analysis and quality review tasks (e.g., reconciliations, issue spotting, and explaining assumptions) without over-relying on the model
  • Implement practical guardrails: validation steps, “human-in-the-loop” review, and approaches to reduce hallucinations and errors
  • Describe key confidentiality and data-handling considerations when using generative AI tools in a professional setting
  • Assess how to move from individual Claude use to team-level orchestration — Skills, Projects, and governance steps for scaling AI across a practice or finance function

Suited to:
