Creating a Constructive Culture (2022)

Overview
Do your team come to you with problems, not solutions?
There is a baseline that underpins all sustained ‘high performance’ and that baseline is a culture that is growth and achievement oriented – constructive.
Yet many teams and individuals are self-oriented, problem-focussed and task-oriented which can lead to bickering, in-fighting and competition between them. Or sometimes the environment is nice enough but feels flat, dull or lacking in energy. Many of these problems are symptomatic of dysfunction in teams that is hugely damaging to performance and engagement
In this session we explore what is going on in these teams and how to start to create shifts so the environment can become increasingly constructive. We’ll examine what is at the heart of how your team works together and with you.
The content explores best-practice, and proven techniques for:
• understanding whether individuals and teams are constructive and powerful or destructive and powerless including how to identify and understand these behaviours when you experience them.
• how to manage yourself in the face of individuals and teams who are oriented toward blame, justification, competition or just doing nothing!
• proven, simple techniques for shifting the culture toward being constructive, energised and powerful both at a team and individual level.
Beyond the basics, the content looks at creating and cultivating behaviours that are highly constructive, and can be evolved in the future as needed.
You will learn:
• simple, practical ways to establish a common ground with others on the key standards across important matters like dependability, responsibility, and collaboration
• how to surface issues that are holding a team in a negative or destructive space and how to shift the dynamic and focus forward
• how to build and manage the emotional safety of your Leadership
This session will be interactive. It includes case studies and further reading references
