Ethics for Professional Accountants - why it’s time to revisit the provisions of the Code

Overview

The continued relevance and importance of the Restructured Code of Ethics.

Since the Restructured Code of Ethics for professional accountants (Code) came into effect on 1 January 2020, the profession and our clients have faced extraordinary challenges.

In light of these unprecedented circumstances, it is both important and timeous to revisit the provisions of the Code and understand how it continues to drive the behaviour expected from accountants and firms.

As we navigate through the pandemic, and firms prepare to implement the revised quality management standards, our behaviours are anchored by the fundamental principles of integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care, confidentiality, and professional behaviour.

This webinar will focus on key topics pertinent to the evolving ethics and independence landscape including:

  • A recap of the important revisions and restructured changes to the Code
  • A reminder of the responsibilities of professional accountants when identifying or suspecting non-compliance with Laws and regulations (NOCLAR) including some practical examples

Auditor Independence provisions – including specific and topical reminders on the prohibition on assuming management responsibilities and maintaining independence when providing information technology services.
