Overview

Car Parking FBT Essentials for Success – Your complete guide for 2025 FBT Reporting – unravelling the complex FBT rules on Car Parking to save you time, eliminate headaches and minimise your liability

The FBT car parking rules are complex, including controversial recent changes, and require careful consideration to ensure employers are not only compliant but also minimise the FBT liability where possible.

Recent changes to the ATO guidance in Taxation Ruling 2021/2 and Chapter 16 of the ATO’s FBT Employer guide will be discussed.

Many employers (and their advisors) are unsure of whether FBT applies to the parking provided to employees, and how to value the car parking benefits. It is no wonder that many employers either overpay FBT, underpay FBT or just ignore the obligation fully or partially – actual examples will be shared to illustrate all of these employer scenarios.
