Measuring Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Strategic Purposes and as Required by AASB S2

Overview

Identify, asses and act – lay the foundations for mandatory sustainability reporting with clear climate risk and opportunity insights.

Some Australian entities are required to measure their greenhouse gas emissions for reporting required by the new AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures in their mandatory sustainability reports. Other Australian entities voluntarily measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions for strategic purposes, that is to facilitate access to capital (debt and equity), markets (customers) and people (employees). In this webinar, we explore how Australian entities should measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions.

During the session we will discuss the following:

  • The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme;
  • The Greenhouse Gas Protocol
  • The relevant requirements from AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures
  • The development of a boundary setting policy
  • The development of a basis of preparation (i.e. carbon accounting methodology)
  • Measurement of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions
  • Measurement of Scope 3 emissions.
