In this webinar, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) will provide an overview of the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme, and trends from the first 12 months of reporting, including:
• An explanation of the scheme and key requirements
• Findings and key learnings from the first year of reporting on the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme
• The OAIC’s expectations about entities’ compliance with the requirements of the scheme
• Case examples of data breaches and entities’ responses

Attendees will learn the reporting requirements under the NDB scheme, trends and insights from the first 12 months of the scheme’s operation, and information to assist in assessing and notifying data breaches under the scheme.

Amanda Baird - Acting Director, OAIC
In her role as Principal Director, Privacy Dispute Resolution, Amie oversees the OAIC’s regulatory action in the areas of Commissioner initiated investigations and notifiable data breaches. Amie has been at the OAIC, and the former OPC, for 8 years. Prior to this Amie has worked in legal, policy, and advocacy roles within government and the non-profit sector, including as a lawyer at the Australian Government Solicitor, where she provided specialist advice on privacy and information law. Amie holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Newcastle, and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University.
As Acting Director, Privacy Dispute Resolution, Amanda leads OAIC regulatory action in relation to the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme, and Commissioner initiated investigations. Amanda helped develop the OAIC’s NDB guidance for entities and individuals, and leads the OAIC’s regulatory work in relation to compliance with the scheme. Amanda also provides advice and guidance to entities and individuals about the application of the scheme, and manages the statistical reporting of data breaches by the OAIC. Amanda has been with the OAIC for a number of years, before which she worked for the Energy and Water Ombudsman of NSW.
