Conflict in the workplace can take many forms. There can be interpersonal conflict, conflict around ideas, unexpressed conflict, destructive conflict or not enough conflict. All of these affect performance, engagement and well-being.
In this session, we explore how to create and maintain Constructive Conflict – which is healthy conflict around ideas, thinking, options, risks and opportunities.
Research shows that Constructive Conflict can create fresh starts, and breakthroughs in thinking and can re-energise a team. Poorly managed conflict can devastate morale, performance, psychological safety and client outcomes

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will:
- Understand the spectrum of conflict that can occur in the workplace and between team members
- Learn how to identify conflict issues as they surface
- Understand some of their limitations in the face of conflict challenges such as the tendency to avoid, to react (rather than respond), to attempt to control
- Learn conversation techniques that support the framing of conflict and its healthy emergence
- Learn how to speak about Constructive Conflict in a way that calms others, and creates a context to talk about conflict so that you and your team are well set up to navigate a way through it
- How to facilitate debate effectively – in meetings, and among groups.
